Kamersvol Geskenke - Jhb 2014

It was great being part of the first Kamersvol Gekenke exhibition in Johannesburg.

It was held in die spectacular Forum, function venue.

The people of Jhb came out in their thousands to enjoy the food, music and all the incredible exhibitors with their designer products.

Look out for the next Kamers exhibition in Cape Town and Irene end of 2014.

Dids Art studio classes 2014

Due to major hour renovations my studio has been closed now for more than a year.

During this time we used it as a dining/tv/laundry/work room as well as a kitchen.

Without my beloved studio we would have been homeless :)

I am happy to announce that my studio will be operating as normal from March 2014.

The first class will start on Thursday 6 March.

Some of the house renovations of the past year. Am I glad we are almost back in our house. It has been a year of frustration but we are very happy with the end result. I will do an update on the finished house in due course.

Kamersvol Geskenke 2013 was an absolute blast!

It was so rewarding to hear all the positive feedback and to see happy, smiling clients.

 Soft Toys - they were flying of the shelves. I am happy to say that they ALL found new homes.

 I just love my Beatrix Potter cube clocks. Such a lovely addition to a nursery.

 Best Seller of Kamers 2014! I could not keep up with demand for my consol jar storage planks.

 These wire, twig and bird lampshades are my favourite. They create such a happy place in any room.

 Some more hoops and dolls

 My paper collage lampshades with birds attracted so much attention. Visitors just loved them.

 This was the only reclaimed plank, hand painted wall clock I had available.

It will be part of my new range for 2014.

New vintage dolls

It seems all I am doing lately is creating new products. These dolls are just so cute :) I am having a whole lot of fun designing each one's outfit. Next on the list are some new friends for these friendly faces.

New embroidery hoop creations

So, here are the newest members of the hoop family. It is such an enjoyable activity creating these darling pictures. I am going to sell them with a sad heart ;)

Vintage Design Fair 2013

Last weekend was the always popular Vintage Design Fair in Hatfield, Pretoria.

I love displaying my products there, it is in the heart of the university area and attracts a lot of students.

Together with the decor you can always find excellent music and food as well.

I love my new display unit. It was created using old wooden beams from the roof of my house (we are in the process of renovating) 

 Love the sheep in their dish :)

New set of Vintage Blocks

I can not believe that I have been making these blocks for the past 3 years (maybe 4?) They keep on charming people. Lucky I still love making them :)

This new set features 4 furry friends, a Beagle, Chihuahua, Pug and Jack Russell.

They were a set of oil paintings I did a few years ago. I think they look smashing on the blocks. 

Bunny Hoops

I had these embroidery hoops laying around my studio for quite some time. Ideas have been coming hard and fast but there has just not been time to get going.

This past weekend I eventually got to them and Mr & Mrs Bunny were born ;)

I must have the best job ever, creating my dreams every day.

The next family will be some gorgeous piggies..

Angel Dolls

I am happy to finish of this morning with a whole group of angels. They are such a joy to make.

 

Little Lamb

I am always looking for new items to add to my product list. This led me to a whole new range of soft toys.

After the first batch of Vintage Dollies I started on these pretty lambs.

They are just to cute :) I make them in a range of colours and each one is sure to make some little heart happy.

 

It is incredible how quick time flies. The last 2 months just flew by! I have been busy with some very exciting new product development.

One of them are these amazing doggy handbags.

I have always had a passion for our furry friends and when I was approached to help Barking Mad it was so easy to say yes :)

Barking Mad is a wonderfull organisation looking after resque dogs as well as placing dogs with new families. They devote so much towards this cause that I am happy to do my small part in helping them.

These handbags are made from a durable felt with hand embroidered designs on the front. The inside has a cotton lining.

There are some new designs coming, as well as one for the cat lovers out there.

 

New soft toy and floor cushion

Wow, it has been more than a month since my last blog entry.

It has been very busy on my side.

First of all, I spent 2 glorious weeks with 2 fabulous friends in Cape Town (will post some photos later)

We has so much fun and CT is just the prettiest place in the world to visit.

Secondly, I have been super busy preparing new stock for the Kamersvol Geskenke 2013 selection that takes place next week.

These are some of the new items. "Woof" is a softy with a shy side to him :)

The floor cushion is filled with lovely soft fluff and has a handy handle for little hands to carry around.

The fabric comes in a range of stunning colours. Can't wait to make a few more.

Vintage doll family

The family has grown. How I love to make these dollies. Each one seems to take on a character of their own. Can't wait to go and search for some more fabrics.

Vintage Design Fair 2013

This morning I set up my stand for the very popular Vintage Design Fair in Hatfield, Pretoria.

This is a unique fair with students as their target market.

The fair is combined with great food and a selection of bands performing every night.

A great outing.

I just love creating these flowery designs. With only 2 more months of glorious hot weather to go before autumn decends on us, they keep summer going strong.

The handbags are made from the same industrial felt as my other products and have a vintage cotton lining.

These bags are such fun and always draw attention.
